After being introduced to the work performed by the American Institute of Architects’ Equity in Architecture Commission, Nakia’s professional passion has been to integrate the principals of Justice, Equity, Diversity and Inclusion (JEDI), into the broader AEC industry. Just as her role in architecture unites her passion for design with her talent in marketing, her focus to promote equitable practice within the AEC community marries her passion for social equity and community service with the industry she deeply reveres. In 2020, she joined the National Organization of Minority Architects (NOMA) as an allied member where her intent is to continue working to bridge the design community with the greater communities it serves. At her core, Nakia is a passionate advocate and a joyful collaborator, working to improve all layers of community for all.
